Emilio Aguinaldo Hwy, Tagaytay, 4120 Cavite, Philippines
Theme: Paving the Way
Asian Qualitative Research Association (AQRA), a research association of the Adventist International Institute of Advanced studies (AIIAS), is organizing its first international conference on qualitative research (ICQR). AIIAS is an accredited Christian international institution offering graduate degrees in business, education, public health, and theology. AQRA is an international network that brings together qualitative research enthusiasts from all over Asia and beyond to share their passion, expertise, research outputs, and resources in order to empower each other in becoming even better qualitative researchers. It is a platform that promotes both sharing with, and learning from, other scholars. The theme of this first ICQR is “Paving the Way” because its aim is to build a solid foundation for qualitative research work all over Asia.
Goals
1. Empowering conference participants with qualitative research knowledge;
2. Sharing ongoing and completed qualitative research studies;
3. Receiving constructive feedback from qualitative research experts from the Philippines and other countries on ongoing research;
4. Creating a network of qualitative research enthusiasts; and
5. Disseminating the 15 best manuscripts through publication in one of the best peer-reviewed international qualitative research journals.
The AQRA International Conference on Qualitative Research is a golden opportunity for academics, researchers, educators, and practitioners from any discipline who are interested in current and best practices of qualitative research that involves primarily human beings.
Conference Activities
One keynote session, six plenary sessions, and several concurrent sessions on findings and best practices of qualitative research.
Strands
(a) primary research outputs, (b) qualitative research designs, (c) data collection, (d) data analysis, and (e) best practices in conducting qualitative research
Submission Guidelines
For the abstract to be accepted, submission must include a one-paragraph abstract that (a) is between 100-150 words-long, (b) gives a brief background of the topic, (c) has a clear link to at least one theory, (d) presents the specific research design and methods used, (e) a brief synthesis of the findings (if study is done) or importance of the study (if study is still ongoing). For a theoretical presentation, the abstract must (a) be between 100-150 words-long, (b) give a brief background of the topic, (c) introduce the major sections of the topic, and (d) be focused on qualitative research. It must be saved in a Word document (.doc or .docx). The title of the abstract must be between 6 to 12 words, followed immediately by the name of the author/presenter, his/her highest degree, institution affiliation and its physical address, email address and cellphone/telephone number. A maximum of two abstracts are allowed per presenter. Since this conference is an international conference, all materials submitted must be in English and English will be the only official language accepted at the conference.
The conference is multidisciplinary in nature because what brings participants together in this conference is not a specific field, but rather qualitative research.
The best 20 papers will be selected by AQRA and submitted to the Journal of Ethnographic and Qualitative Research. This journal is indexed with ERIC and EBSCO (H.W. Wilson, Social Science Full Text, Psychology and Behavioral Sciences, SocINDEX, and Academic Search Complete) with plans to add more. After the evaluation of all the abstracts, the template for manuscripts will be sent to those that are approved.
