RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT PLAN

(PROPOSED)

 

VISION:

To establish a vibrant, dynamic and responsible health research consortium in Region XII for the attainment of national and global health goals.

 

MANDATE AND MISSION

HRDC12 shall be mandated to establish unified regional   R & D management body to carry out  policies and implement health science and technology activities that will redound to the development of the  region and the country as a whole.  It shall promote cooperation and integrate all health research efforts and stakeholders in the region to ensure that research will contribute to evidence-informed health policies and actions.

 

OBJECTIVES

General:

To  strengthen the system of collaboration in Region 12 to develop and enhance capacity of institutions engaged, and which has interest in health  research, as a strategy too improve the health conditions in the region..

 

Specifically, the consortium aims to:

  1. Identify priority regional health problems for research;
  2. Identify and implement priority research programs and projects targeting identified priority health problems;
  3. Develop and/or enhance health research and development activities;
  4. Establish a system of collaboration and resource sharing in undertaking health researches;
  5. Generate resources for health-related researches consistent with the national and regional research agenda;
  6. Develop capability in human resources, facilities and other infrastructure for health and nutrition researches;
  7. Promote the utilization of health research findings;
  8. Serve as clearinghouse for all health-related researches; and
  9. Develop mechanisms and implement strategies to  ensure long-term viability of the consortium.

 

STRATEGIES:

The above objectives shall be carried through the following strategies:

  1. Inventory of research capabilities and resources in member-institutions;
  2. Identification of resources required by member institutions in pursuing specific health research activities;
  3. Develop mechanisms for sharing resources and research capabilities;
  4. Identify priority health research areas for Region 12 and develop mechanism the mechanism for coordination among stakeholders;
  5. Design manpower development programs and their mechanisms for implementation;
  6. Collaborate with health and allied agencies, government and private institutions in the effective use of new research findings;
  7. Collect and disseminate new research information;
  8. Develop a regional research utilization plan that should be aligned with the National Unified Health Research Agenda;
  9. Conduct team/community building activities fostering unity within and among member-institutions; and
  10. Develop mechanisms for establishing linkages between and among health research and research institutions outside Region 12.
